Sialorrhea in Parkinson’s disease: botulinum toxin should be last in line

Eugenia Yiannakopoulou, MD, MSc, PhD, University of West Attica, Athens, Greece, discusses the treatment modalities for sialorrhea in Parkinson’s disease. The first line of treatment should be non-pharmacological approaches, followed by anticholinergics as a second line. Lastly, as a third line of treatment, botulinum toxin should be considered and the adverse effects taken into account. This interview took place during the Virtual World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) 2020.
